Call for Entries – CineKink 2016

CineKink –“the kinky film festival”–is seeking films, videos and, for the first time, original digital series, of any length and genre, that explore and celebrate a wide diversity of sexuality. Dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television, we’re looking to blur some boundaries and will be considering offerings drawn from both Hollywood and beyond, with works ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to artsy experimental, mildly spicy to quite explicit–and everything in between.

Cutting across orientations, topics covered at CineKink have included–but are by no means limited to–BDSM, leather and fetish, swinging, non-monogamy and polyamory, roleplay and gender bending, sex work and sex geekery. Basically, as long as it involves consenting adults, just about anything celebrating sex as a right of self expression is fair game. (Far be it from us to define “kink” – if you think your work might make sense in this context, please send it along!)

Scheduled for its 13th annual appearance in February/March 2016, the specially-curated CineKink NYC will also feature a short film competition, audience choice awards, a special adult entertainment showcase/contest, a gala kick-off event and a sexy closing-night party. A national tour will follow, showcasing favorites from the NYC festival selections.

Discounted, early-bird entries have a post-marked deadline of October 9th, while the regular deadline is November 13th and the final deadline is December 4th. Entry fees are waived for CineKink-alumni directors submitting by the “regular” deadline.

This week’s show is live, so find out all the ways to listen here so you can call in with questions at 1-866-472-5788, join the discussion on Facebook or Twitter, or e-mail me via tristan(at)puckerup.com and I’ll read them live on the air!

She blogs at Lusty Lady (http://lustylady.blogspot.com) and Tweets @raquelita and teaches erotic writing workshops at colleges, conferences and sex toy stores. Matie Fricker is the co-owner of Self Serve Sexuality Resource in Albuquerque, New Mexico & selfservetoys.com. Matie and her business partner Molly Adler opened Self Serve in 2007 to bring positive sexuality into the light of day, creating access for adults to find healthy experiences of sexuality. Molly and Matie have been awarded the 2008 Tough Cookie Award from the National Association for Women Business Owners, Self Serve has Best Sexy Shop in the Alibi for the last six years and Albuquerque Pride’s Most Outstanding Store Award. Matie is also the director of Pornotopia: Albuquerque’s infamous community run porn festival. One of her proudest accomplishments was causing Rush Limbaugh to say “female orgasm” on-air multiple times.

About Self Serve:
Self Serve is a woman-owned sexuality resource center & boutique. In a culture where sex is sensationalized and unrealistically represented in the media, and silenced in day-to-day life, we offer a space that is frank, honest and friendly. Our compassionate and non-judgmental sex educators give you the space to ask the questions that make other people blush. Self Serve offers bodysafe adult toys, intimate lubricants, natural skin care, locally-made gifts, books, dvds, classes and private events. We support healthy sexuality over a lifetime, and hope to help people find more pleasure and joy in life.
About Pornotopia Film Festival:
Pornotopia is a film festival celebrating the beauty and diversity of sexuality. Imagine a world where erotic films don’t offend, but arouse. Where orgasms are real and filmmakers are independent. Pornotopia showcases films that keep it real, raw, tender and beautiful. In Pornotopia sex is fun, everyone gets off and pleasure is paramount. Pornotopia Film Festival enjoyed three wonderful years, from 2007 to 2009. In 2010, Self Serve & a community committee planned another exciting erotic film festival. It was sadly never to be. But now… they’re back! After a victorious ruling by the NM State Supreme Court, they are again able to produce the sexiest, most fun film festival in the Southwest.

petrajoy-promo-shot

Petra Joy is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and journalist who currently lives and works in England and makes “art-core” films from a female perspective. This Friday on Sex Out Loud at 5pm PT / 8 pm ET, she’ll discuss Sexual Sushi, the first film she produced and directed, as well as Her Porn, a series she began in 2008 to give fellow female directors a place to collect and distribute their work. Petra Joy will also discuss the Joy Awards, her ongoing collaboration with Candida Royalle and the impending launch of Cinema Joy, her own eclectic Video On Demand channel streaming with her own erotic films as well as films by other feminist porn directors whose work she loves.

After graduating in 1990 with an MA in film studies and history, Petra Joy worked for almost two decades as a freelance television director producing over 50 documentaries, mostly on (female) sexuality. This work took her to England where she still resides. In 2004, Petra produced and directed her first erotic film, Sexual Sushi . This unique erotic film, featuring a real-life couple and an artistic approach to erotic filmmaking, became a surprise success – even though or because it broke all the mainstream porn rules. Encouraged by this success Petra directed to date four more “art-core” films from a female perspective (Female Fantasies, Feeling it, The Female Voyeur, A Taste of Joy) that won multiple awards all over the world.

Finding similar-minded female directors through festival appearances and networking, Petra began to curate and publish the best-selling Her Porn series in 2008, giving fellow female directors a place to collect and distribute their work that may otherwise have gone unnoticed by many. Encouraged by the idea of promoting existing female directors, as well as wanting to mentor new ones, she created the Petra Joy Awards in 2009, a short film competition for first-time erotic film directors.

Petra continues to make headlines with her autobiographical book The She Pornographer. Female Fantasies: My Revolution Of Lust which was published by Heyne in Germany in June 2012.
