Written and directed by Houston, SNAPSHOT draws inspiration from film classics such as Hitchcock’s Rear Window and Antonioni’s Blow Up, featuring a diverse cast and intimate portrayals of queer sex in Houston’s signature cinematic style. We’ll also discuss how she’s telling a different kind of coming out story with her work and also share stories from working with the leads Beretta James, Chocolate Chip, & Lyric Seal.

As the founding producer and director of Pink and White Productions, (CrashPadSeries.com, PinkLabel.tv), SHINE LOUISE HOUSTON has always had unique vision. Graduating from San Francisco Arts Institute with a Bachelors in Fine Art Film, her works have become the new gold standard of adult cinema. During a five year position at the women-owned, sex toy purveyor Good Vibrations, Shine recognized an underserved demand for an alternative to mainstream pornography, and began to create well-crafted queer made porn. Shine’s films have been recognized among the next big wave of women produced porn and have been internationally screened from Amsterdam to New Zealand. 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of Shine’s work. This year she was honored with the “Sylvester Pride in the Arts” Award by the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, receiving a Certificate of Recognition from the State of California Legislature Assembly. Shine’s upcoming film SNAPSHOT is an erotic thriller staring queer women of color.

“Kinky Film Festival” Invites Filmmakers to Submit Sex-Positive, Kink-Friendly Entries for 11th Annual Event!

CineKink has announced a call for entries for its 2014 season. The “kinky film festival” is seeking films and videos, of any length and genre, that explore and celebrate a wide diversity of sexuality.

Dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television, CineKink is looking to blur boundaries and will consider offerings drawn from both Hollywood and beyond, with works ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to artsy experimental, mildly spicy to quite explicit – and everything in between.

Cutting across orientations, topics covered at CineKink have included, but are by no means limited to, BDSM, leather and fetish, swinging, non-monogamy and polyamory, roleplay, gender bending, sex work and sex geekery.

Submission categories include:
* shorts (less than 40 minutes long; eligible for jury-determined awards)
* features (longer than 40 minutes; eligible for audience-choice awards)
* adult cinema / porn excerpts (10-25 minute segments of longer works; eligible for ‘Bring It!’ showcase)

There is no restriction on production completion dates, as long as the work is completed at the time of submission. International submissions in most overseas formats are also accepted.

“Basically, as long as it involves consenting adults, just about anything that celebrates sex as a right of self expression is fair game,” says Lisa Vandever, CineKink co-founder and director. “Far be it from us to define ‘kink’ – if you think your work might make sense in this context, please send it to us for consideration.”

Scheduled for its 11th annual appearance in February 2014, the specially-curated CineKink NYC, the organization’s flagship festival, will feature a short film competition, audience choice awards, an adult entertainment showcase/contest, a gala kick-off event, and a sexy closing-night party. A national tour will follow the New York festivities, drawing from its programming to showcase award-winners and audience favorites in cities across the country, adding visibility nationwide and year-round. The 2013 CineKink Festival Tour is currently underway, with screenings scheduled in such cities as Portland, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Berlin, and more.

The deadline is November 15th. The final festival deadline is December 6th.

This Friday, July 20th, on Sex Out Loud, I’m happy to welcome educator, filmmaker, and pop culture icon Buck Angel. We’ll discuss changing representations of trans male sexuality, including the making of his docu-porn Sexing the Transman and its success on the film festival circuit. Buck will also discuss the upcoming sequel, Sexing the Transman 2, due later this month and his transition from being an adult film star to a speaker and educator. I will also get a chance to talk to Tobi Hill-Meyer, a filmmaker currently working on Doing It Again, an erotic documentary about trans women’s sexuality that weaves together explicit scenes and interviews with trans women and their partners.

Buck Angel

As a visionary filmmaker, activist, educator and lecturer, Buck Angel launched Buck Angel Entertainment as a vehicle to produce multi media projects that will motivate viewers to think outside the box. Buck Angel’s message of empowerment through self-acceptance and being sexually comfortable in your own skin has struck a passionate chord with folks all over the world. Since Buck coined “it’s not what’s between your legs that defines your gender!”, the phrase has become an anthem for people everywhere who have been inspired by this message of self acceptance. Buck has been featured in nearly every imaginable international media outlet: television, radio, web, and print. Buck Angel made history when he received the prestigious award from Adult Video News (AVN) for Transsexual Performer of the Year in 2007 for his groundbreaking work in the adult entertainment industry. Buck has received international recognition and continues to be a huge box office hit in numerous markets.

Tobi Hill-Meyer

In 2010 Tobi Hill-Meyer made her film making debut, winning an Award for Emerging Filmmaker of the year and being named #3 in Velvet Park Media’s list of the 25 Most Significant Queer Women of 2010. She is a multiracial trans woman with a long history of working with feminist and LGBTQ organizations on a local, state, and federal level, having served on several boards and offering support as a strategic consultant. Since receiving her degree in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, Tobi has turned her focus to media analysis and productions. She is a founding member and major contributor to the media collective, Handbasket Productions.
